Villeneuve-lès-Avignon
is the most pleasant place where
to live very close to the City of
Avignon |
-Walking from our house to
Avignon City Center takes
approximately 35 minutes. It is a pleasant
walk with a magnificent view.
-There
is a direct bus that goes there
too, in 3 minutes.
-You
can as well drive half way with your
car, leave it in a free and safe parking,
and finish either walking, or with the
free shuttle.
-In
summer, you can go to Avignon by boat.
-Parking throughout our village is easy
and free.
-There are 2 train stations in
Avignon:
Avignon "TGV"
which is a few miles away from Avignon,
and
Avignon "CENTRE"
which is in the
town center. There is a shuttle that
goes from one to another.
-From Avignon TGV to our place, a taxi
charges approximately 12 Euros (plus
luggages you put in the boot).
-From Avignon CENTRE, there is a direct
bus to our place (number 11).
-Villeneuve-les-Avignon remains a very
typical Provencal village where you
can find all kind of bars, restaurants
and shops.
So close to Avignon (just across the
river), and so quiet however. Easy jogging
along the river side, and pleasant walks
in the streets with magnificent historical
buildings...
Traffic
in the Historical Centre
:
From April to September, the main street
of the village, rue de la République
is closed to traffic from 7PM to 6AM
(and over the week-ends all year long).
If you arrive during that period, please
park your car anywhere you can in the
village and walk to our place. Distances
are very short. We shall lend you a
remote control so that you can drive
in the Historical Centre, and explain
you where to park very close to your
private access to your apartment.
In case you really want to drive
all way when the rue de la République
is only opened to pedestrians: -when
you are in front of the barrier, turn
left (rue du Camp de Bataille
you can go nowhere else) -second on
your right (chemin des Chartreux
first leads only to a parking) -drive
around the cemetery (on your right handside)
and turn in the second street on your
right (rue Pierre Brossolete)
-when you get to the end of that street,
turn right, and immediately left (rue
Chabrel) that narrow little street
is a one way street some days…..so be
careful…but no other way…that will lead
you back to the rue de la République,
we are just there on your left handside.
